The Empire City Casino in Yonkers is teaming up with an organization to make sure that anyone dealing with a gambling addiction can find help.
New York's Responsible Play Partnership teamed up with the casino to introduce Voluntary Self-Exclusion, which involves filling out a form in order to be excluded from any promotional gambling advertising.
It's just one way the partnership aims to put a barrier up between a person struggling and the addiction.
"It hurts. It hurts the individual, it hurts the family, it hurts the community, it hurts everybody around. It's a hidden addiction," says Jim Maney, executive director, NY Council Problem Gambling.
