yesterdayElmsford police officer Douglas Ramirez, 44, of Mahopac, has been arraigned on charges of stealing over $15,000 while on duty.
The Westchester District Attorney's Office says Ramirez accepted a sealed package turned into the front desk of the police department while on duty in July. Authorities say he then stole the money contained within.
Ramirez was arrested a month later and placed on administrative leave. He is facing charges of grand larceny and official misconduct.
