A family homeless shelter in Elmsford is closing, but this time it is for a good reason. The county plans to close the shelter because they say there's not enough people living in it to keep it open.
Westhab, a homeless advocacy and housing group that has managed the shelter for 16 years, is pleased with the decision. The group is working to ensure its employees and 46 remaining families currently living there are all relocated.
Greenburg Town Supervisor Paul Feiner says things have changed due to county programs. Feiner says he would like to see the property converted to senior living or to affordable housing units.
