Police say a 47-year-old man in Yonkers faces a murder charge for killing his 76-year-old father with a meat cleaver.
Emergency units were dispatched to 347 Scarsdale Road on Tuesday in response to a report of an unconscious male.
Upon arrival, responders discovered the lifeless body of Jose Raul Velasco, who had sustained multiple severe lacerations.
Detectives apprehended August Velasco, of Yonkers, at the scene.
Investigators say Velasco attacked his father, repeatedly striking him with the cleaver.
Detectives recovered the weapon at the scene. Velasco has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently in custody. Velasco was arraigned Wednesday. His attorney requested that he have a mental health evaluation. He is currently being held without bail.
