The post office in Hartsdale was closed Thursday after an elderly driver plowed her car into the building.
Firefighters spent the morning shoring up a supporting wall of the building on Central Park Avenue to make sure it is safe. There were no injuries as a result of the accident and police did not issue a ticket to the driver. Another elderly woman jumped the curb and hit the building in February 2005. Post office officials put up a concrete barrier since that accident.
Officials hope to reopen the post office by Friday. Customers can still access P.O. boxes and stamp machines in the lobby.
