Orange County teachers are vowing to take their fight against the controversial Common Core curriculum straight to the state Capitol.
The Orange County Teachers Association put together a forum Thursday in the hope of breaking down the walls between the state and the community.
They came together with local lawmakers at the Slate Hill Fire Department to try and have an open dialogue about changes in education.
"In the desire to push standards, I think we are forgetting about the actual kids and that's one of the drawbacks of Common Core," said Sparrow Tobin, of the Orange County Teachers Association.
Union officials say they have been organizing events around Orange County for the last few months.
