After three days in the dark, the lights are on again Monday at police headquarters in Eastchester.Eastchester Police Chief Timothy Bonci says he?s fuming over how Con Edison handled power restoration efforts. He says the department was forced to rely on back-up generators when they lost power after Tropical Storm Ernesto whipped through the region Saturday. First responders had a hard time doing their jobs. Even though the 911 system remained up and running calls had to be diverted to another municipality.Police weren?t the only ones inconvenienced by the storm. Businesses in the downtown area were forced to dump thousands of dollars in merchandise, while residents along Heatherdell Road couldn?t flush their toilets and were without well water. Many say they are frustrated by Con Edison?s response to the outage.
