East Coldenham Elementary remembers students killed by tornado 32 years ago

Tuesday marks 32 years since a group of students lost their lives in what's now known as the East Coldenham School disaster.
On this day back in 1989, about 120 first, second, and third graders were eating lunch in East Coldenham Elementary in Newburgh when a tornado struck the glass wall of the cafeteria.
Seven children were killed. Two more died later in the hospital, and 18 others were injured. Days later, a 10th child lost her life in a car crash outside the school.
The children are remembered each year by the members of the community. Flags are also flown at half-staff.
