A Dutchess County woman has been arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals following the death of her dog.
Raysonia Owens, 44, was taken into custody on Monday and released. She is scheduled to appear in Town of Hyde Park Court next month.
Deputies responded to Hyde Park Terrace Apartments on Sept. 3 for an animal complaint. Initial reports suggested the dog died from fatal injuries from a fall, but investigation revealed the dog's death was related to a preexisting medical condition that was left untreated.
Owens is accused of causing the dog's death by failing to provide necessary treatment for its medical condition.
