The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says there's a scam asking people to participate in a survey about the post office.
The letter looks real but it tells recipients that they have to cash a blank check that comes with the letter in order to do the survey.
The sheriff's office says the post office will never ask residents for money.
If you receive get the letter, police ask that you give them a call at 845-486-3820.
