Coronavirus cases in Dutchess County are hitting numbers that haven't been seen in months.

There are currently 314 active COVID-19 cases in Dutchess. The county hasn't seen more than 300 since June 18.

Officials say they're finding most cases stem from social gatherings like small hangouts - someone infecting others in their family - and traveling.

Marist College currently has 80 cases. It is extending its campus pause to Wednesday to contain the outbreak from spilling into their own, as well as, the surrounding community.

A rehabilitation center in Fishkill has 30 cases between residents and staff.

With cases trending up, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro is urging residents online to do their part to help them contain the spread.

Hospitalizations have been fluctuating around 12 since early October, with officials preparing for the possibility that that number could go up too.

While COVID-19 fatigue may be settling in as people head indoors due to the cold weather, officials warn that now is not the time to let down anyone's guard.

Dutchess County's seven-day average positivity rate of 1.9% is still one of the lowest in the mid-Hudson region.
