Police have issued a warning about a new scam on the rise in Dutchess County.
The department says scammers have been contacting victims and falsely claiming that they or a family member failed to appear for grand jury proceedings and must pay to avoid arrest.
Police remind the community that they will never ask people to satisfy a warrant with money.
They also urge residents to never meet with people they do not know when asked for cash.
