3ds agoSome elected leaders have announced their endorsements for New York's 2022 gubernatorial race.
Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro and Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson have thrown their support behind Rep. Lee Zeldin in New York's gubernatorial race.
Columbia County Clerk Holly Tanner also announced her support for Zeldin.
"We have to enact policies that are more business friendly. We need to have people in charge of state agencies who want to improve the business climate within that agency and throughout the state. There's an opportunity for us to save New York," said Zeldin.
Zeldin is just one of the prominent names emerging in the race. Others include former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and Andrew Giuliani, a former White House staffer for President Donald Trump and the son of Rudy Giuliani.
The Molinaro endorsement is considered a major announcement, since many thought he would take another shot at running for governor after garnering 2.2 million votes for the position in 2018.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has not officially announced whether he will be running for another term as governor.
News 12 reached out to Astorino and Giuliani for comment but has not heard back.
