Scarsdale real estate heir Robert Durst is due in court today on a gun charge in New Orleans.
The accused murderer is expected to accept a plea arrangement on a weapons charge, after a revolver was found in his hotel room last March.
The agreement will let him return to California to face a murder charge. The charge has kept him in Louisiana even though he waived extradition to California to face a charge that he killed a friend and onetime spokeswoman Susan Berman in 2000. He is also linked to his wife Kathy's disappearance from their South Salem home back in 1982.
Defense attorney Richard DeGuerin says he won't discuss details until the agreement is in place. But he says Durst wants to get to California so he can prove he didn't kill Susan Berman.
Durst is an estranged member of the wealthy New York real estate family that runs 1 World Trade Center.
