Testimony continued Monday in the case of Robert Durst in Los Angeles.
The Hudson
Valley native and real estate heir is accused of killing his best friend Susan
Berman to keep her from incriminating him in the disappearance of his first
wife.
Last week,
a judge ordered that the murder trial continue, despite defense requests for a
delay because they say Durst is in such pain that he can't stand up to dress
for trial.
The
78-year-old Durst appeared in court looking frail in a wheelchair and jail
garb, with a catheter attached that he held up to show the judge.
The Los
Angeles County jail system doctors declared Durst fit for court, and Superior
Court Judge Mark E. Windham ordered that testimony in the trial, which resumed
last month after a 14-month pandemic delay, would continue.
