A neighborhood in Newburgh was without power overnight after a dump truck took down wires and utility poles.
Officials say the driver of a dump truck accidentally hit the button that raises the back of the vehicle.
As he drove along Route 52 Tuesday evening, the elevated part of the truck snagged power lines. The truck then dragged down more wires and broke utility poles.
Utility crews have since restored power to all customers, but neighbors say a few parked cars were crushed by the downed poles.
Newburgh police say the incident appears to be an accident, and that no charges will be filed against the dump truck driver.
