Some drivers who use the Tappan Zee Bridge say that progress being made along the new bridge is leading to traffic jams on the old span.
Veronica Jones says she thinks that people are slowing down while crossing the Tappan Zee to take a peek at the construction and the cranes floating atop the Hudson River.
A New York State Thruway Authority spokeswoman says, "While construction is making visible progress on the river, there is no evidence of significant traffic delays due to rubbernecking."
State officials urge drivers to keep their eyes on the road while crossing the bridge.
A viewing area has been set up in Tarrytown for residents eager to check out the bridge's progress. Another viewing area is scheduled to open in Nyack Memorial Park later this year.
