People across America are remembering the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
His message of peace and equal rights was echoed in Westchester County this morning.
Jeanne Newman, of Project Share, was honored for her work with youth at the third Annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast today in Hastings-on-Hudson.
Newman says Dr. King's work to end segregation changed her life. "My coming of age was between 1960 and 1970. I know how the world changed. I watched it. I witnessed it. It made that big [of] an impact on me so that my moral and social decisions were greatly influenced by what happened during those years," says Newman.
Almost 50 years later, Dr. king's life and legacy still lives on. "If you look around this room, you can see the diversity of the students illustrate that Dr. King's sacrifice was not in vain," says Marilyn Gutman, of Hastings-on-Hudson.
