Top federal health officials say we could continue social distancing into the summer.
Dr. Deborah Birx is warning social distancing is necessary to protect people's health and safety.
 
On NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Dr. Birx said "social distancing will be with us through the summer to really ensure that we protect one another as we move through these phases."   
Her comments conflict with those of Vice President Mike Pence who predicted last week the epidemic would be largely behind us by Memorial Day weekend.
