Dozens gathered in Newburgh Monday to protest the grand jury decisions in the Eric Garner and Michael Brown cases
Protesters put their hands up as they marched down Broadway in Newburgh. Their message to police was that there is a way to get the job done without killing. A number of protesters even laid down in the middle of the road blocking traffic.
The rally, one of many across the nation, was held in response to recent grand jury decisions not to indict the officers who killed Michael Brown in Missouri and Eric Garner in New York City.
Among the protesters were members of Michael Lembhard's family. Lembhard was killed in 2010 by Newburgh police after they say he lunged at officers with a knife. The case against the officers was dismissed.
