Downed wires close busy stretch of Palmer Avenue in Larchmont

Officials are urging drivers and pedestrians to avoid Palmer Avenue between Larchmont Avenue and Chatsworth Avenue while crews work to address multiple damaged utility poles and restore safety in the area.

A section of busy Palmer Avenue in Larchmont is closed after utility wires came down, prompting an emergency response.

Fire officials say a tractor-trailer took down a communication line on Palmer Avenue just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Some electrical lines were also taken down in the process.

Fire Chief Richard Valentine adds that three Con Ed poles will need to be replaced, along with communication and electric lines.

Officials are urging drivers and pedestrians to avoid Palmer Avenue between Larchmont and Chatsworth avenues while crews work to address multiple damaged utility poles and restore safety in the area.

Emergency services remain on scene as repairs continue.

Officials add that it may be until early into late this evening before repairs are complete.

Police say cars and pedestrians are not allowed on Palmer between Chatsworth and Larchmont avenues at this time.
