Doctors share ideas on how to live healthier on World Obesity Day

Monday marks World Obesity Day, and a doctor at Montefiore Hospital shared some ideas on how New Yorkers can live a healthy lifestyle and support each other.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, obesity puts you at risk of a stroke, Type 2 diabetes and even death.

Dr. Robert Ostfeld has run a plant-based nutrition program at Montefiore for 15 years where patients can learn how to cook budget-friendly began meals to incorporate into their daily lives.

Research shows that plant-based diets have lots of health benefits, including lowering your body mass index and reducing cholesterol. State data shows that the Bronx has the worst obesity rates across the five boroughs.
