With summer weather right around the corner, so is increased sun exposure.
Dermatologist Lauren Adams says that the risk of skin cancer is greater under the summer sun. Adams advises people to wear sunscreen and protective clothing, and to avoid the sun.
Even on cloudy days, doctors recommend taking caution. Doctors also say people should keep an eye on the size and shape of spots or moles on the skin, taking note of any changes.
For the past three years, the White Plains Hospital Center for Cancer Care has offered free skin cancer screenings to the public. Last year, roughly 80 people passed through the center.
