An investment banker from Dobbs Ferry is the latest Democrat to announce plans to try and unseat Rep. Jamaal Bowman. He gave his first TV interview to News 12's Tara Rosenblum Wednesday.

Martin Dolan says he is running because he believes Bowman does not stand firmly in support of the priorities of most voters in the 16th Congressional District, especially when it comes to foreign affairs and Israel.

"I don't think he is, what they would call in the NFL, a franchise quarterback. I think he's had his rookie deal, and I think voters have to make a change. I have a lot of respect for the voter intelligence," he says.

He is also sounding off on a previous version of the redistricting maps that had been rejected by the state Legislature. The maps would carve out portions of the Bronx and add them to Bowman's district, while placing parts of New Rochelle and Pelham into the 14th Congressional District, currently represented by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

"There is a blatant attempt to to push the 16th down into the Bronx to help protect a very weak congressman, Jamaal Bowman. I don't know why on Earth they would think about bringing AOC up into Westchester, except it is going to dilute the Jewish voters," he says. "This is not good timing. Maybe they are trying to position AOC for her future political career."

Bowman did not return News 12's calls for comment on Martin's candidacy.

Martin is the second Democrat to join the Democratic primary for the 16th Congressional District. As News 12 previously reported, Rev. Michael Gerald is also running.
