The design of a Pepsi can being distributed in the Middle East has drawn backlash from people across the Hudson Valley for its apparent depiction of the Sept. 11 attacks. The design was brought to light by an Army National Guard member who saw the can while serving in the Middle East. Purchase-based PepsiCo Inc. says the design was meant to celebrate the skyline of Dubai, a city located in the United Arab Emirates. A new can featuring an abstract design without tall buildings and an airplane is taking the place of the original.
