In a significant development, Democrats have achieved a veto-proof supermajority in the Rockland County Legislature.
Starting next year, Democrats will hold 12 out of 17 seats.
County Legislature chairman, Democrat Jay Hood, stated to News 12 that while there are no specific items they intend to address at present, the supermajority will grant them increased leverage in the future, particularly concerning the county budget.
The newly elected county legislators are expected to be sworn in during the first meeting next year.
