Democratic lawmakers are calling for the Westchester County Ethics Board to investigate County Executive Rob Astorino for having a second job.
Three Democrats, including Legislator Catherine Borgia, want a review of circumstances surrounding Astorino's other job. For the past four years, the county executive has earned $30,000 a year working as a consultant for a Connecticut-based media group.
"We want the law to be followed," says Borgia. "We don't believe the county executive is above the law."
Borgia also accused Astorino of violating the county charter by having the county attorney, one of his political appointees, approve his second job. Astorino's spokesman Ned McCormack denied all the accusations, saying Astorino has fully disclosed his income. He also suggested Borgia and the other Democrats are doing Gov. Andrew Cuomo's dirty work.
Meanwhile, the official deadline for campaigns to file new finance reports is Tuesday. Astorino's campaign says he has raised $3.4 million, but Cuomo's office has not released its numbers yet.
