Two people were hospitalized after a deer crashed through the front windshield of their car.
Police say the deer badly damaged a Toyota Camry on Wednesday night on Route 45 in New Hempstead.
After the car collided with the deer, the animal went through the windshield and ended up in the back seat area of the car.
The car then careened into a pole.
The driver, Bronx resident Elmer Adilio, was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is listed in critical condition.
The passenger, Emerita Najarro, also of the Bronx, was treated and released.
The deer died as a result of the crash.
Police are investigating if speed was a factor in the crash.
