A deck collapse at a Monsey home broke a gas line as it crashed to the ground on Saturday afternoon.
First responders say gas and electric meters were ripped from the home and neighbors were told to evacuate.
West Central Avenue was shut down while the gas was shut off. Officials believe a large, blue kiddie pool is to blame.
Chief Andrew Schlissel, of the Monsey Fire Department, said that decks are “not structurally sound” for the weight of a pool.
No one was on the deck when it collapsed and there were no injuries.
