The DeCicco Family Market that is located across the train station on East Parkway in Scarsdale is shutting its doors on Nov. 15 after years of service.
"It was very convenient," said 85-year-old Jerry Sabol, a long-term Scarsdale resident. "I don't drive anymore."
This comes after months of empty shelves and stocking problems that have left residents seeking alternative grocery stores.
Elderly residents, who don't drive, expressed their frustrations with the closing and the lack of notice.
Sabol says he relies on this DeCicco Family Market location because of its convinience.
"I use it because of my age. I walk a lot so I usually...the routine is to walk here from my house, by a few things and stop of the coffee shop or Martines."
In a statement, Scarsdale Mayor Justin Arest said the property owners are diligently working toward a long-term solution that will benefit the community.
As for the future of the location, residents and shoppers say they're hoping to see another supermarket occupy the space.
