Tuesday marked two years since the deadly Metro-North crash in the Bronx that killed four people, including three from the Hudson Valley.
James Lovell, 58, of Cold Spring; James Ferrari, 59, of Montrose; Donna Smith, 54, of Newburgh; and Ahn Kisook, 35, of Queens, died in the crash. More than 70 other people were injured when the train derailed.
The investigation revealed the engineer fell asleep at the controls, and that the train was speeding when it rounded a sharp curve near the Spuyten Duyvil station.
The tragedy prompted calls from the public for an automatic braking system.
Union members tell News 12 that they do believe many safety gaps have been addressed and they feel the MTA is headed in the right direction.
