The deadline for Bronx residents to offer suggestions for the Kingsbridge Armory redevelopment has been extended. The city's Economic Development Corporation (EDC) deadline of December 14 for suggestions is now January 4. The winning recommendation must complement existing schools, promote economic growth, create jobs for local residents and not compete with existing businesses.Community members are trying to push their own requirements. They want a $10 minimum wage, benefits for all future Armory employees and for part of the Armory's space to be transformed into schools. The EDC is looking to sell the Kingsbridge Armory by the spring of 2009. It was built between 1912 and 1917 and hasn't been used by the military since 1993.
