The family of a woman killed in a 2013 crash on the Tappan Zee Bridge is accusing prosecutors of unfairness now that charges against the wrong-way driver have been dropped.
Rockland County District Attorney Tom Zugibe says officials do not have enough evidence to support criminal charges against Michael Schechel. Schechel had been facing charges of negligent homicide.
The crash killed Hannah Ayeh Brachie, an immigrant from Ghana who was a mother of four. Her husband was also injured in the crash.
The family says it is outraged by the decision.
Brachie's family has accused Zugibe, who is white, of choosing sides based on skin color, not justice.
