A good-hearted custodian in Croton made the day of someone 900 miles away with a random act of kindness.

Brian Rizzo, the head custodian at Carrie Tompkins Elementary School, was cleaning up a field on the school’s grounds when he noticed something in the ground.

He then pulled out a class ring, dated 1979, with the initials DM on it.

Inside the Croton Free Library, Rizzo opened the 1979 yearbook and started looking for someone with the initials DM. Within minutes, he found a man named Daniel Macrini.

“I was able to find him on Facebook. I sent three messages, no response,” says Rizzo.

He then tried the nursing facility that he worked at in Tennessee, and was successful.

“This has nothing to do with the material. This has to do with the heart of somebody who saw an opportunity to make somebody feel better about something,” says Macrini in a call with News 12.

For Rizzo, he says it brought a “warmness” to his heart.
