? New crime statistics from the NYPD give mixed results for Bronx police Precincts 44 and 46 since they added 100 new officers a month ago to patrol the streets.
The latest NYPD report shows while shootings have dropped in the 46th Precinct, down 75 percent compared to the same time last year, other crimes like rape, robbery and auto theft have increased. The report also shows overall crime decreased by nearly 21 percent in the 44th Precinct, but gun violence remains a problem there.
While some residents are singing the praises of the increased police manpower on Bronx streets, others say only time will tell whether it will make a difference.
