Two people are dead after a crash in Orange County this morning.

Police say a car and box truck smashed into each other on Route 211 around 5:30 a.m. Both individuals in the car were killed instantly. Their identities have not been released yet.

The driver of the delivery truck suffered minor injuries. He was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Newburgh for treatment.

Route 211 was closed both ways between River Street and Route 416 as police investigated the accident.

The accident occurred in front of the Montgomery Elementary School. The school had a two-hour delay this morning as police investigated. School officials sent out an advisory to parents warning them to expect delays and detours in that area.
