Driver killed in crash involving flatbed truck in Port Jervis

Port Jervis City police say a passenger vehicle was traveling west Park Avenue when it crossed the center double yellow line and collided with a large flatbed tow truck heading in the opposite direction.

A driver was killed in a head-on collision with a flatbed truck over the weekend.

Port Jervis City police say a passenger vehicle was traveling west Park Avenue when it crossed the center double yellow line and collided with a large flatbed tow truck heading in the opposite direction.

Emergency medical crews and officers provided immediate aid to the driver, who sustained severe injuries and was trapped inside the vehicle. The man was extricated by the Port Jervis Fire Department and rushed to Bon Secours Community Hospital by Port Jervis EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.

The tow truck driver was also taken to Bon Secours Community Hospital, treated, and subsequently released.

The City of Port Jervis Police Department's detective unit is currently investigating the accident. Authorities are refraining from releasing the deceased's name pending family notifications.
