Mount Vernon police arrested five people Friday for allegedly having drugs inside a senior citizen apartment building.
Police were called to the Grace House at 229 South Seventh Ave. early Friday morning and found a quantity of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside apartment 5B.
Five people, Jesse Dickerson, 53, Carol Messiah, 49, James McQueen, 70, Linwood McCoy, 57, and Peggy Malloy, 57, were arrested inside the apartment. Police say only three of the five arrested lived inside the building.
All five are charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. They have been arraigned in city court.
