Westchester County officials want to make sure this year?s high school sports seasons are both successful and safe. Their plan to do so begins with a campaign against steroid use.
Westchester County Executive Andy Spano kicked off the campaign at Sleepy Hollow High School. Students, athletes, coaches and parents alike were educated about the dangers of steroid use, such as liver cancer, heart attacks and mood swings.
The kick-off also included a preview of the campaign video, produced by Sleepy Hollow students and county officials created to inform high school athletes on the effects of performance enhancing drugs. The video will be available to all county schools by the start of the school year.
