Police in Ardsley are investigating what they now believe to be a robbery, but initially responded to as a sexual assault.

The incident took place early Thursday morning at the Apple Motor Inn on Saw Mill River Road after a man and woman arrived together and checked in. Police say at about 5 a.m. the man allegedly robbed the woman of her money and fled on foot, running into a park across the street.

Police are combing through surveillance video to determine exactly what happened. Their investigation is ongoing.
