An Orange County man faces charges in a fiery crash that killed his female passenger last fall.
Police say David Schermerhorn, 24, was high on drugs when he drove into a tree on Cross Road in Goshen last October. Schermerhorn escaped the wreck but said he was unable to get his passenger, 25-year-old Catilin Feldner, out of the car in time.
At the time, Schermerhorn said he fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into a tree, but police say toxicology tests tell a different story.
He is facing charges of manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and DWI.
