Police kicked off a three-week crackdown on drunk drivers in the Bronx and across the city Friday.
Authorities say more checkpoints will be set up and officers will patrol near bars and nightclubs. Officials say NYPD officers have made about 5,700 DUI arrests in New York City since the start of 2006.
Many people who have lost their relatives in drunk-driving accidents say they want drivers to use more restraint and think twice before getting behind the wheel.
