A former NYPD sergeant sentenced after a manslaughter conviction is now out of prison and back home in Putnam County.

Erik Duran is free on $300,000 bond as he appeals that conviction.

Earlier this month, he was found guilty for the death of a Bronx man.

Prosecutors say Duran was working undercover when he tried to make a drug arrest but targeted the wrong man.

He threw a cooler at Eric Duprey, but the impact killed him.

On Monday, the sergeant’s benevolent association relayed a message from Duran.

In it, Duran thanked his family, the union and officers both in the NYPD and across the nation for their support.

But activists, including Black Lives Matter New York, called Duran’s release “an appalling miscarriage of justice.”
