Construction continues along the Broad Street Bridge in Mount Vernon, but many say they have been negatively impacted by the noise and traffic.
Construction on the 91-year-old bridge began in 2012. The bridge has been shut down since July 14 to complete the work.
According to the Westchester County Department of Public Works, the $2 million project had to be done because the structure was deteriorating.
The bridge spans over the Bronx River Parkway and Metro-North Railroad.
Chris Pereira, the owner of Pizza! Pizza!, says delivering piping hot pies isn't easy with a longer distance to travel.
"They are going all the way around to something that's back here," he says. "Now, it's taking like an extra 15 minutes to do it and traffic does build up there."
Arlene Driscol, of Mount Vernon, says she is thankful they are repairing the bridge, and while people have lost business and say it's an inconvenience, repairs needed to be done.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of the month, with the bridge reopening to the general public by Aug. 29.
