Voters show up early as polls open across CT

Polls opened in Connecticut this morning at 6 a.m. Despite the early start, polling locations like West Rocks Middle School in Norwalk, saw as many as 100 voters cast their ballots in the first hour.
The Board of Education, mayor and common council are some offices that voters will see on their ballot in Norwalk. These elections are municipal.
Tara Powers, a voter, spoke with News 12 after she cast her ballot. She brought her young daughter with her.
"My husband and I think voting is important. I didn’t grow up going to primaries and municipal elections and things of that nature, but since perhaps eight or so years ago, it has become very evident that those things are incredibly important and we’re trying to show her that very young," Powers said.
Powers' daughter who won't be able to cast a ballot anytime soon, brought some colored paper with her to use as her own sample ballot. Powers said every election matters. "I think that those are the things that make the town we live in, great places to live and the things that help protect our neighbors and her school mates and eventually her when she grows up. So, sometimes I actually think these are even the most important elections because they affect you know every single moment of every single day," she said.
