Luna Park is back in action for another season and will officially reopen on Saturday.
"We are celebrating the CYCLONE--95 years. We will have the traditional egg cream christening of the Cyclone to get the season going,” Alessandro Zamperla, president and CEO of Central Amusement International says.
This year’s reopening is long-awaited, as this is the first time since 2019 that the park is at full capacity, with no restrictions.
"Because of the pandemic, we had to stay closed for 528 days. We opened April 9 of 2021, and it was probably the best day ever, just to feel that energy again and that joy," Zamperla said.
Luna Park officials tell News 12 the preps are around the clock for the big grand reopening.
That includes safety checks and the best part - tasting new food options.
“We have great pizza, we have great gelato, so obviously a lot of prep in terms of food and everything to make sure the experience is the best," Zamperla said.
Luna Park’s blessing of the rides ceremony starts at 11 a.m. Saturday and the park will open its gates at 12 p.m.
Wristbands are $20 for entry.
Proceeds from each wristband will be donated to three Brooklyn charities.
