Con Edison has announced a proposal that could significantly increase gas and electric bills for Westchester residents starting next January.

Under the proposal, gas bills would rise by more than 13%, while electric bills would increase by nearly 11.5%.

The company stated that the additional funds are needed to invest in infrastructure to better withstand the growing frequency of extreme weather events. The New York State Public Service Commission will review the proposal and make the final decision on whether these rate hikes will be implemented.
