As Scam Awareness Week nears, Con Edison says scammers call customers and tell them they must make an immediate payment via Cash App, Venmo or Zelle.
They want customers to know these calls are fraudulent.
Con Edison does not use any of these electronic payment services.
If anyone receives a call like this, Con Edison officials say to immediately hang up the phone.
The warning comes as part of an End the Call, End the Spam campaign happening this upcoming week.
