Con Edison says birds coming into contact with powerlines on a transformer was the cause of Saturday's outage in New Rochelle.

Utility officials say it happened on the transformer tower located on Monroe Street.

Utility crews were on the scene Saturday afternoon working to restore power to hundreds in the city's East End.
