Con Edison is hoping for a brighter 2007 with a new plan to keep Westchester residents out of the dark.
Con Ed announced it will be enhancing its tree trimming program. The plan is to expand the distance trees have to be from power lines. The company says its goal is to trim 85,000 trees a year in order to reduce the number of storm-related power outages by 20 percent.
The new plan comes after residents across Westchester spent many days without power in 2006 due to severe storms. Con Ed officials say they will trim the trees over a three-year period.
